Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

QIf I am unsure where to start with a self-assessment of my home, what do you suggest to do?

A. The best way to make a start is simply to use a note book and allocate one page for notes for each to the 7 principles of T,A,C,T,I,C,S.
Add another page to write about you and your behaviour in the house. Starting to write notes about what you see/find is all that’s needed to begin, and soon a ‘picture’ of your home will begin to form in your mind.  We have done this with over 1’500 students and this process leads nicely to building a good understanding of a home, its level of sustainability, and what changes could be good for you. You may also like to give ratings to different aspects of your home as you go. For example: under air-flow, you might write how well the air flows through your home, along with a score of either poor, good, excellent, and/or ‘needs change’.

Q. Can you help us work out how a sustainable change to our home can also be financially beneficial?

A. We are currently working on our ‘Business Case For Sustainability’ (BCFS) calculation model and expect to have it ready later in 2025. It will guide us on how to compare dollar outlays with the financial benefits, such as ROI and pay-back-periods. We’ll start to post financial examples sooner too.
